One Championship: Kingdom of Champions – DD26

Play

Back in 2012, Thailand banned Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) matches.  People could come to Thailand and train in MMA, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or any number of other martial arts, but they couldn’t officially fight a MMA match in the kingdom of Thailand.

That all changed this year.  On May 27th, 2016, Thailand had it’s first ever MMA match.  The event was put on by One Championship and it was called Kingdom of Champions and it was held at Impact Arena just outside of Bangkok.

One of the weird things that Dom encountered at the event was that you couldn’t take any food into the arena area.  Also, you couldn’t take any non Chang beverages into the arena area.  Normally, that wouldn’t be an issue, but all the food areas that had beverages, didn’t sell any Chang beverages.  So when Dom and Tracy went to find their seats, they took Tracy’s water off of her, because it wasn’t Chang water.  Later, when they went out to get something to drink and some hotdogs/sausages, on their way out, they asked and found out that they could only bring Chang beverages in.  Tracy went and got the hotdogs and sausages and Dom stood in line to get Tracy’s water and himself some beer.  Another weird thing is that they weren’t selling draft glasses of Chang beer, they were selling cans of Chang beer, and you had to pour them into plastic cups yourself.  They also had trays, but they didn’t have enough trays for the numbers of people that they were selling to, so by the time Dom got to the front of the line, they had just ran out of trays.  When Dom asked for four (4) beers, they gave him four (4) cans and four (4) cups.  When he asked for a tray, they told him they were all out, so he changed his mind and got two (2) beers so he could carry them.  Also, they made Tracy open her bottle of water and took the cap to her bottle.  Other than that, the night was a really good night.

Now to the fights.

Koh Samui – DD25

Play

In about mid-April of this year, 2016, Dom’s sister visited him in Thailand.  He and Tracy decided that they should take her to Koh Samui.

This would be Dom’s first trip to Koh Samui as well as Danelle’s first trip.

While there, they walked two (2) beaches, saw Hin Ta and Hin Yai.  Dom and Danelle went up onto a look out point that looked out over the sea.  Dom talks about how hot it was while they were in Koh Samui.  Thailand was having record highs during this time.

monkeyThe second day, Danelle and Dom went on a package deal where they got to do a few things like ride an elephant and see a monkey show.  Danelle loves elephants, so she was really excited to be able to ride an elephant.

Big BuddhaThe third day, Dom, Danelle and Tracy went to see the giant Buddha that’s very famous on Koh Samui, and the taxi drive convinced them to go see the second big Buddha.

On their last and final day, they decided to spend the day at the resort relaxing on the beach.

Diet & Fitness With Niall – DD24

Play

Niall’s back on the show and this time, the plan was to talk about diet and fitness, but like last time, Dom and Niall talked a lot, and only talked about diet this time.

Dom and Niall start off talking about what the word diet really means, and they also talk a little bit about crash diets and how they can be bad for you.

Dom also talked about the diet he was on at the beginning of the year called The Whole 30.

suplimentsOne of the things Niall stressed when it comes to diet and eating is to have meals focused around protein, and possibly adding supplements to a diet for extra protein.

If you have any questions for Niall, you can contact here by sending him a message on Dom’s contact form, facebook, twitter @DomDumais, at Dom’s google plus, or at Niall’s twitter @wattsybrfc

Hockey & NHL – DD23

Play

breezersshoulderpadsIn episode 17 and episode 21 Dom talked a little bit about skating and playing hockey.  In this episode, Dom talks about his time playing hockey at different levels from four (4) years old to eighteen (18) years old.  He also talks about some of the different equipment he used while playing hockey, like breezers and shoulder pads and some of the teams he played on.

Dom also talks about watching the Minnesota North Stars, how he felt when they were moved to Dallas and became the Dallas Stars, following the New York Rangers and how excited he was when NHL hockey went back to Minnesota with the Minnesota Wild.

Although Dom no longer plays hockey, he is still a big fan, and loves watching the Minnesota Wild play hockey, which wasn’t easy in Bangkok, until he got the NHL package through NHL.com, and now he watches whenever he wants.
